Axedale fundraiser for NPC Disease

The Axedale Tavern owners Garry and Corrine Cummins have come on board in full swing.  The weekend of May 17th and 18th will see the Tavern come alive with fundraising fun with live music from local performers in Grant Bull and Joanne Woodward, together with Melbourne award winning cover band East Ravine!  A silent and major auction will take place with door prizes, raffles and lots more.  Tickets for the sit down 3 course meal are only $50 each with a maximum seating of 110 people.  Door entry after the sell out of dinner tickets will be at $20 with pizzas being available for a light meal if required.  A bus will be leaving Kangaroo Flats/Bendigo from a designated area and returning at a low cost of only $10 per head… Couldn’t get a taxi for that!!!!

Major sponsors of the event are obviously the Axedale Tavern, Strath Hardware, Lucky Productions and 3BO/Star FM with local business’s generously donating goods and services for the raffle.

All funds raised will go towards the critical research happening at the University of Melbourne under the watchful eyes of Prof Mark Walterfang, Dr Ashley Bush, and Scientist Ya Hui Hung.  $120,000 per annum is the cost of continuing this research for a twelve month period.  NPC Mice are been studied under the Microsoft with the affects of compounds such as Copper,Zinc, Iron etc being given as a treatment to reduce symptoms of Niemann-Pick Type C Disease and to hopefully gain a longer life span and higher quality of life for patients living with this terminal disease.
